You may be entitled to compensation!

The complementary income insurance provided through the Swedish Municipal Workers’ Union (Kommunal) is part of your membership fee. This insurance is tax-free and complements the compensation you receive from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (A-kassa) should your earnings exceed the income ceiling. Now, you are able to check whether you are also entitled to compensation from this income insurance.

When sending in the enclosed form, please also include copies of:

*  Letter of confirmation from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (A-kassan)

*  First payment notice from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (A-kassan)

If you are granted compensation from the Income Insurance and you are still unemployed then you should send in a copy of future payment notices (utbetalningsbesked).  Addresses are to be found on the form.

Terms and conditions in brief

*  You must have been a member of the Swedish Municipal Workers’ Union (Kommunal) or another union with income insurance for an unbroken period of 12 months. You should also be receiving income-related compensation from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (A-kassan).

*  The Unemployment Insurance Fund (A-kassan) shall have confirmed that your income for compensation purposes is SEK 18,700 per month or more.

The Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) introduction programme

* If you are part of such an introduction programme and are in receipt of income provision through Activity Support (Aktivitetstöd) then you are not covered by the income insurance.

* If you become openly unemployed after the end of the introduction programme you are welcome to send in the enclosed form to enable us to test your application.

Compensation through the Swedish Municipal Workers’ Union (Kommunal) income insurance scheme

* The compensation from the Income Insurance is equivalent to 80 % of the
difference between your earnings-based compensation and the A-kassan ceiling of SEK 18,700 (up to SEK 35,000).

* You can receive compensation for a maximum of 100 days (based on a five-day working week).

* If you find a job and then become unemployed again you can continue to receive compensation, if your 100 days are not finished.

* For the first seven days you receive no compensation (these are qualifying days).

The complete terms and conditions for the complementary income insurance are obtainable from your union section. They can also be read on our homepage, www.kommunal.se/inkomstforsakring
